About Us

Baituna Al Talhami (Our Bethlehem Home) is a cultural and heritage center located in the heart of Bethlehem, Palestine. The name “Baituna” means “our home” in Arabic, while “Al Talhami” refers to the heritage the house represents. The house is not just a place to visit but an embodiment of the region’s rich cultural traditions, history, and the daily lives of its people.

Historical Origins: the Arab Women’s Union (AWU) originally set it up in 1969, under the supervision of Julia Dabdoub, for schoolchildren to have a hot nutritious meal.

Mission and Purpose: The Embroidery Centre was initially created with a humanitarian mission – to support needy Palestinian Women by providing them jobs that enable them to have a descent life.
