Baituna Al Talhami (Our Bethlehem House) is a cultural and heritage center located in the heart of Bethlehem, Palestine. The name “Baituna” means “our house” in Arabic, while “Al Talhami” refers to the specific family or heritage the house represents. The house is not just a place to visit but an embodiment of the region’s rich cultural traditions, history, and the daily lives of its people.

The Embroidery Center
Historical Foundation and Purpose: The embroidery center was established as part of the Arab Women’s Union’s mission in 1969 to provide Palestinian refugee women with meaningful work and income. The center focuses on preserving and teaching tatreez – the traditional Palestinian embroidery art form. Learn More >>
Design and Layout: The ethnographic museum component is designed to authentically represent Palestinian heritage. The museum’s rooms are arranged to resemble a traditional 19th-century Palestinian home, showcasing the domestic life and cultural practices of the period.
